Big Bear Vacation and Other Stuff

Well, this week James is back to working full time with the school year starting…This week was teacher in-service and he has been busy with meetings, classroom preparations, and technical duties. He is ready for the school year and excited about what the year will bring.

Leading up to this week he had a week off and this allowed us to get away for a short family vacation. Since my brother, Tim, has been living up in Big Bear this summer we figured that would be an awesome place to visit and it would allow Tim to see Jacob. It was only the 4th time Tim had gotten to see Jacob since his birth and James had never been to Big Bear. We started our vacation at my parents house on Tuesday and had a wonderful time with them.

We spent the night and then headed up the mountain to Big Bear Wednesday morning. We arrived at Evergreen Baptist Church (the church my brother has been helping out at) around 11:00 am and I was able to feed Jacob and Tim and James talked. Lunch was the next thing on the agenda and we headed to The Hacienda for some mexican food. After lunch we took a walk by the lake…

this brought us to Jacob’s next feeding so we headed to check into the cottage that the Pastor’s wife had reserved for us. It was a nice little cottage with a spa tub and a fireplace!

We enjoyed hanging out and relaxing with Tim. After Jacob’s feeding we went to play mini golf and James and Tim went down the Alpine Slide… our next stop was Boulder Bay ,which is just a little park by the lake over looking a couple big boulders! This brought us to Jacob’s next feeding which took us back to the cottage. After this feeding we went to dinner at Teddy Bears in the Village…we then walked around a little bit but most of the stores were closed so we took Tim home and headed back to our cottage for the evening.

Thursday found us back in the Village at the Copper Q for breakfast and then we walked the Village and visited the shops. SInce we had checked out of the cottage we headed to a park and played some card games and tossed a baseball around…Then it was onto lunch at BJ’s…After lunch we headed back down the hill to my parents house and relaxed there until church. We visited Lighthouse and then headed home. All in all it was a very relaxing time! We enjoyed spending time with Tim and my parents.

Our week ended with a wedding on a yacht…this was Jacob’s first time on a boat!

This week Jacob is 11 weeks old and growing big. He has slept 7 hours a few nights and loves giving smiles and playing with mommy and daddy when he is awake!

Eric and Joyann’s Wedding

Today, we went to the wedding of some wonderful friends…It was a beautiful wedding and Baby Jacob’s 2nd wedding in his one month of life. He was a model baby. But back to the wedding…It was a simple affair but very elegant. Eric and Joyann wrote vows for each other and surrounded by family and friends committed their lives to each other. I am really happy for them but sad at the same time…because they are moving to Kentucky right after their honeymoon. I am really going to miss both of them, but am happy to see them following the Lord’s will in their lives.

Casey and Becky’s Wedding

I really enjoyed the wedding yesterday! ¬†The ceremony was beautiful and you could tell that it was a match made in heaven! ¬†I took a lot of pics and won’t be able to post them all but I hope you enjoy the few I put up! ¬†I saw a lot of old faces and a few new ones! ¬†I was blessed to be able to let them use some of the decorations from my wedding and that made me very happy! ¬†Everything turned out beautiful! ¬†They are on their way to Hawaii for their honeymoon! ¬†Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Casey Kuhlman!

Mr. vs Mrs. Ashton

So this is going to be a little interesting. ¬†Because most of the K-4 children are Asian they have a hard time with English sometimes. ¬†They know that I am Mrs. Ashton but getting them to say that is sometimes very¬†difficult. ¬†They have a tendency to say Mr. Ashton. ¬†So I ask them “What is my name?” And they usually get it right the second time! ¬†It is very cute. ¬†Also the other day we were talking about friends in class and Derrick, one of the twins, all the sudden says “You are pretty!” ¬†I was confused about what that had to do with being friends but it was cute! ¬†I love spending time with them. ¬†Allesandra has started to respond and listen to me. ¬†She is really a smart girl! ¬†Johnston is just cute, no matter what. ¬†Today they played with Legos and Puzzles! ¬†Some of them did really good and some of them tried their best. ¬†Two of the boys made airplanes with the Legos and were flying them around. ¬†I got some pics of them at lunch and on the playground today. ¬†I will try to post them as soon as I can. ¬†I really enjoying working with them.

Busy Week

James and I have had a very busy week. ¬†Teacher in-Service started this week. ¬†We were here every morning at 7:30 and didn’t head home until around 3:00 each afternoon! ¬†We were here until 7:30 a couple of nights due to orientation! ¬†We are worn out and looking forward to the weekend. ¬†Right now as I am typing this James, Spencer, and Tim are hanging a projector in a HS classroom. ¬†I am just hanging out. ¬†Congratulations to Sheree and Alan on their engagement and Matt and Rebekah owning a home! ¬†We will be posting pics of James’ classroom soon. ¬†Hope you all have had a great and relaxing week!

Saturday Night

So our Saturday night started out super fun. ¬†We had plans to “go out to dinner” with Rebekah Jenkins and Spencer Bales! ¬†We were actually in on an awesome surprise for Rebekah! ¬†She thought we were going to hang out together all night, but we were actually just Spencer’s cover! ¬†We dropped them off at an office building, got back in the car and left. ¬†Rebekah was so confused, but Spencer told her that he wanted a little bit of time alone with her because of her leaving for college soon and him just getting out of boot camp and a military class! ¬†She bought the story and thought nothing of the situation. ¬†Spencer told her that we were coming back to pick them up! ¬†We weren’t of course, but she didn’t need to know that at the moment! ¬†Spencer paid for a Gondola ride around the Newport Harbor and while they were on the ride he proposed. ¬†It was super exciting. ¬†Then a limo came and picked them up and they went and had dessert on the beach! ¬†What a romantic evening! ¬†James and I went out to dinner at Red Robin and then came home. ¬†congratulations to the newly engaged couple!!!!!

Enjoying Married Life

Well, I am definitely enjoying married life. ¬†On a regular basis I cook, clean, and do laundry. ¬†I have enjoyed having a few friends over and have gotten to go to the mall with some of them. ¬†We are getting things settled in at the apartment. ¬†James is busy working at Bethel. ¬†He is in charge of daycare and is trying to find enjoyable activities to keep the children busy. ¬†We have ordered some wedding pics and are waiting for them to come in the mail. ¬†We are also busy working with the Junior High class on Sundays. ¬†We are really enjoying spending lots of time together.
