Well… Jr High volleyball is done.  The girls learned a lot and had a great season.  We had our last match today, it was a playoff game and whoever won was going to the championship on Thursday.  We lost, but we won one of the 3 games played so I have nothing to complain about.  My girls played their hardest and enjoyed learning the game of Volleyball.  They are all winners in my book because the all accomplished a goal that they had set for them self at the beginning of the season.  I loved being their coach and enjoyed the opportunity to teach them about a sport I love.  I was also able to encourage them to let the Lord get the glory for wins and losses.  We had a wonderful time drawing closer to the Lord and learning how to honor Him.

So we didn’t win first place in the division, but we did get 3rd.  Yes, we would have loved to win 1st place but the Lord knew we need the lesson in humility.  I for one appreciate the learning processes and the chance to try again next year.

So on our day off on Monday, which I blogged about, James took me out to dinner at BJ’s.  I like their pizza but I like their pazookie more.  We enjoyed some delicious pizza and a three pazookie sampler with Triple Chocolate, White Chocolate Macadamia, and Cookies and Creme.  It was all so good and I was so full.  We headed home and watched some more olympics and then went to bed… I woke up around 3:30am not feeling well.

I had the 24 hour flu and it hit me at 3:30am… not the most wonderful time to get sick, but then is there ever a wonderful time to get sick?  Needless to say on Tuesday I stayed home from work and spent the day sleeping… Thankfully I survived the day with only a fever and some aches… I still had a fever that night so I stayed home on Wednesday also.

On Thursday I was back at work in the swing of things… I still had to turn in my passport application since I had been sick on Tuesday and Wednesday.  So on Thursday afternoon I ventured to the post office to get things turned in… When I arrived I realized I didn’t have a copy of my driver’s license and so I had to get copies made and get my passport photos taken.  Thankfully I got everything done and turned in and was back at the school to take my Jr High girls to their volleyball game… We lost by only a few points which I think is good considering we didn’t have any practice this week.

Today, Friday, I have had a fairly normal day.  I am subbing in 4th grade this afternoon, but they are doing seatwork so it is an easy class… I do have practice with my girls and I think James has a softball game, but it is the weekend so I am okay with a busier evening.

I have been watching a lot of the olympics… being sick the beginning part of the week helped with that.  On Wednesday, I watched the very interesting sport of Curling, Yes you read that right, Curling… It is actually quite nail biting.  You slide the rock to get it to curl just right into Home.  The closest Rock at the end of the End wins a point.

I have also enjoyed figure skating, snowboarding, hockey, skiing, speed skating, etc… I happen to enjoy pretty much any sport.  I am looking forward to the many events still to come.

I have a super busy week next week with a normal day Monday,  a “Women in Sport’s” Seminar on Tuesday with some of the high school girls, a Jr High volleyball game at home on Tuesday evening, Jr High girl’s volleyball pictures on Wednesday, Church, a Jr High volleyball game at home on Thursday, and I don’t know of any special plans for Friday night yet…

Hope you all have a great weekend and a good week!

Well, the new year is here and it brought tiredness and work with it.  I am doing good, just tired from to many late nights on vacation and traveling.  On New Year’s Eve, James, Ruth, Daniel, and I stayed up playing Wii until midnight and then went out onto the porch to watch some of the fireworks across the bay.  We said our Happy New Years… finished our game and went to bed.  Mom and Dad had been up playing games with us but went to bed around 10.  It was a very nice and relaxing vacation.  We didn’t really go places, We did the whole “I am going to the mall, Does anybody else want to come?” We never all went the same place together.  It was much more fun to stay home and enjoy the time together.  We got home on Saturday night and have been going none stop ever since.

I have been back at work for 2 days and I am already getting some extra hours so that is nice.  I am also coaching jr. high girl’s volleyball and the first game of our season is on Thursday.  I am looking forward to it… I am also hoping for a winning season, but I don’t know if I will get that.  Yesterday was James’ 24th birthday.  One of his students brought him a cake and we went out to dinner with my parents, Tim, and Ruth.  TGI Friday’s has good food and after we had stuffed ourselves we got our dessert to go and headed to our house to play some Wii and hang out.  It was a great ending to my vacation.

I am back to being busy.  I have volleyball practice Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri from 3:45-5:00.  The extra time is nice for James since it gives him time to work on stuff at school and church.  I am also able to volunteer in the school office and I really enjoy that.

I hope you all had a great vacation. :)

So all of my faithful readers already know about my allergies. I am doing well with my shots and have even been able to increase my shot doses without having an allergic reaction to them.  I have had to double dose on my antihistamine and make sure that I always have my epipen with me.  I have not had bronchitis yet this year and I have been able to spend much more time outdoors without having such a hard time breathing.  Last time I got my shot I had a localized allergic reaction (a big bump and lots of itching where I had gotten my shots) so today I was taken down one dose and given the shots.  We will see how I do on this on for the next couple of weeks. :) I am doing great other than that.  I am almost to the point where they will increase the strength of the dose I am getting (Yellow bottle to red bottle).  I still have asthma problems every now and then but those are usually when I have been running, laughing, or doing both at the same time.  I am sore today from helping with varsity girl’s volleyball yesterday… I haven’t exercised like that all summer.

Among other news… my favorite tv show (Sue Thomas F.B.eye) is planning on putting out all 3 seasons on dvd, officially.  This show is a very clean family oriented show that speaks about the Lord the way He should be revered and honored.  They don’t cuss or use the Lord’s name in vain, ever!  It is about a deaf FBI agent who reads lips, signs, and speaks.  She has a hearing dog and they are both part of the surveillance team.  Great acting, great plots, great humor, clean show. :)

Well, my weekend started out busy.  I got off work at 12:35 on Friday and the busyness began.  I had a few errands to run so I started with those.  I went to the bank and withdrew some quarters so I could do laundry, then I headed to the mall to pick out a present for Rebekah’s Bridal Shower, I was home for about 30 min and then I headed to the school to pick up James.  From the school we headed over to the gym at Mile Square Park for the Sport’s Banquet.  We got there at 4:00 and helped organize the food and set the tables.  For dinner we had spaghetti, bread, salad, and brownies.  It was all provided by the students families and it was delicious.  During dinner all of the coaches presented awards to their teams.

As the Jr High Volleyball coach I presented 2 awards.  Most Outstanding went to Elena Ramirez, and Most Improved went to Kelly Ngo.  After dinner there was a staff vs Jr high guys and HS girls basketball game.  The staff won.  :)  Then there was an alumni vs the HS guys basketball game and the alumni won.  It was a great evening.  James and I got home around 10:30 and James was really worn out so he took a shower and went straight to bed.  I will be posting pics soon.

We were up bright and early on Saturday morning for a yearbook training session.  We are getting ready for next years yearbook and we had a great time with the returning yearbook staff.  I learned a great deal and am looking forward to helping out with yearbook this upcoming year.

I left James at the yearbook session with Tim Wright and I headed to Carrie Roman’s house for Rebekah’s Bridal Shower at 1:00.  I had a great time with the girls!  We played some games and enjoyed the fellowship.  We had fun watching her turn red while opening presents.  I will not be posting pics from the present part of the afternoon but i will have some from the lunch part. :)  I got home around 4:00 and James and I hung out at home for the rest of the afternoon.  I did 4 loads of laundry during this time so James and I would have clothes to pack for our trip up north.  James played Wii and did some design stuff on the computer.

Please be in prayer for James, Ruth, and I as we head up to San Francisco this Thursday.  We will be attending a family gathering in honor of grandma and spending time with the family.  We will be returning Monday evening.

So the last two weeks have been really long and have made me very tired!  My dad is doing better!  He is still not 100% but definitely not in the hospital so that is good!  He had a test done yesterday and has been resting at home today!  I will be seeing him on Friday and Saturday since we will be at Lighthouse for the couples conference!

Last week after Tuesday, Bethel had its Missions Conference! So Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights we were at church!  Thursday, I also had a volleyball game, which we lost!  Friday, I worked all afternoon in a K-4 nap room!  On Saturday, we ran some errands and then came home and cooked for the international dinner at church that evening!  We had a fairly regular Sunday, which included a nap, so that was nice!  Yesterday, I was really tired due to the fact that I only got 3 hours of sleep on Sunday night, but I was able to take a nap in the afternoon and that really helped.  Last night, I was able to hang out with some married ladies my age and just have a great time of fellowship and food!  We had pasta, garlic bread, and chocolate fondue with strawberries, marshmallows, rice crispy treats, and such!  It was really good!  James got to hang out with the husbands of most of those ladies and the hit balls at the batting cages and went out to dinner!

Finally I am to today!  I went to work at my normal time but my schedule was anything but normal!  I did the morning teacher breaks, but then at 11:45 went and subbed in 2nd grade until 3:00!  At 3:00 i changed and headed to teh gym with the girls for a volleyball game!  We almost won!  We lost the first game, but won the second game and went into the third game excited!  We lost the third game 13-15!  Bummer but the girls played really well and they did a good job!  Man I don’t like rally scoring!  Oh well!  So now I am relaxing at home and enjoying the first evening home in 3 weeks with James!

So we had our 4th game today and we won in 2 games!  I am so proud of my girls!  They played awesome and worked together as a team!  The first match we won 25-15 and the second match we won 25-22!  We tried a new rotation and it worked much better than the previous one!  We also had gotten to work on some of our techniques!  I think they did great considering we have only had 3 practices since our last game!  This was not my choice!  We practice outside and since we have had rain the last week or so it makes it hard to practice!  We went into this game ready to play and did just that!  We have another game on Thursday and hopefully will win that one also! :)  Thanks for all of your encouragement and support!  I appreciate it!

So here I was hoping to have an uneventful week and that hasn’t happened yet!  On Monday, I did my usual work in the morning and then at 1:05 i went into a K-4 class and did the end of the day activities!  I was needing to do laundry so that was my evening activities!

Yesterday, I came to work as usual and was told that I was going to be subbing in 3rd grade at 11:30!  So here I was teaching in a class that I had never been in before!  I had Chandler Kirkland in there so that was an adventure! :)  In the evening, I had plans to hang out with some friends and just have a girls night!  It was fun!  We all meet up at Lori Martinez’s house and watched the Jane Austin Movie “Persuasion” . It was a lot of fun!

Today I dropped James off at school like normal and headed home!  I was just pulling into the parking lot and my phone rang, Yep you guessed it I was needed as a sub for 1st toady!  So I have worked extra hours everyday this week and it has been a blessing for our finances!  Funny thing happened today in 1st grade!  I used Brian Regan’s “Not taking questions”!  We had just gotten in from break and the kids were sitting at there desks!  I had just told them to take out one of their work books and one of the girls raised her hand!  I looked at her and said “I am not taking questions!”  Then I started laughing and had to compose myself!  I thought it was rather funny!  :)

It has been nice to have a week that doesn’t have a game in it!  We have a game on Tuesday and are getting ready for it!  We are getting there!  I am really enjoying coaching!

I am hoping that my week isn’t to busy, because I still need to go get my allergy shots!  I had an allergic reaction on Saturday so they have base-flowed my dosage at .20cc!  I am hoping that I will be able to keep building up an immunity to the things I am allergic to!  I am doing okay but have had my moments the last week with hives!  Oh well, it is a fact of life for me!

I hope you all are having a great week!

Well yesterday my girls played their 2nd game!  They started off much better than their last game!  We lost the first match 21-25 and the 2nd match 18-25 but they played their hardest and I am proud of them!  Our next game isn’t until Feb 10 so we have some time to work on a few things!  Serving will definitely be one of them!  :)

After the game, which started at 3:00 in the afternoon, James and I went grocery shopping and then came home and had soup and crackers for dinner!  At 8:00 we headed out to Trey and Anna’s so James and Trey could go to a meeting with some of the other male youth leaders and Anna, Rebekah J., and I hung out at the house and watched Fireproof!

This is a movie I highly recommend for all Christian couples!  It was a great movie about a couple who’s marriage is slowly falling apart and they have decided to get a divorce!  The father of the husband challenges him to wait 40 days before signing the divorce papers and gives him a book that has things to do for his wife for 40 days!  This movie has a very straightforward and crystal clear salvation message!  It is clean, but really shows you the struggle that couples go through!  I loved it and will definitely be watching it again!

Today I have had a problem with hives!  I did go and work my 3 scheduled hours and then I came home took Benadryl and went to bed!  I slept from 1:15-4:45 and am feeling much better!  Although the hives aren’t completely gone they are at least manageable for church and then I will take more Benadryl afterwards!

Please pray for this Sunday!  It is Bethel’s annual Main Event!  The one where we encourage all the teens to invite unsaved friends to come and watch the Super Bowl with us!  At the middle of the 2nd quarter, We have a service!  We have had teens saved in the past and are looking forward to seeing what the Lord will do through this activity!

I hope you are all doing well!

So my week has been very fun, but also very busy and it is only Thursday!  On Monday, we had the day off because of Martin Luther King Day.  This was still a busy day!  I went to get my allergy shots and had a volleyball practice, after practice James and I went home and Tim and Thomas came to visit us!  We had a great evening of food and fellowship!

On Tuesday, I was having problems with allergies and my eyes were itching really bad so I stayed home from work and watched the Inaugural events!  My girls had a volleyball game at 3:30 and it was an away game so We left the school at 2:30!  The girls had convinced themselves that we were playing a really good team and they did awful in the first match!  We lost 6-25 so in between games I gave them a pep talk and told them the other team was playing sloppy and they needed to get their act together!  They did much better in the 2nd match but still lost 21-25!  So our first game was a loss but the girls did have fun.  James and I got home around 5:30 and James made Creamy Ranch Breaded Chicken Pasta (you can find the recipe at James blog)

Yesterday was Wednesday and I worked in the morning planning on going to the allergist at 2:00.  When I got to work I was asked if I could do a K-5 nap room!  I told them I could stay until 2:00 so instead of leaving at 12:35 I was able to work until 2:00.  At 2:00 I left and headed to the allergist!  I was able to get eye drops and those will hopefully help!  I came back to the church around 4:15 and hung out with James, Spencer, and Rebekah in the auditorium!  We went to church and headed home!

So now we have come to Thursday and I am subbing in a k-4 class!  I will be working all day and then having volleyball practice after this!  I am thankful for all the extra hours at work!  I am also thankful that we have Monday off!  It is Chinese New Year and almost all of the kids are absent anyways!  Ruth is planning on coming and spending the day with us when she gets out of class!

This weekend we have a young married activity on Saturday night and I am hopefully going to be spending some time with my cousin, Jeremy!  I am not sure what we will be doing yet but we are working on something!  I hope you are all having a great week!
