Yesterday was the opening day for the OC Fair… Between 12 and 1 admission and parking were free and James and I are definitely about saving money. We arrived around 12:45 and the first thing on our agenda was lunch… we had corn dogs… We had a great time wandering and looking at everything. We saw the animals, the crafts, the photography, all the little vendors trying to sell their products, and we walked through the carnival area. It was really hot and a little sticky so we bought a souvenir cup for $5 and then refilled it once for $2.50. At one point we found a table and enjoyed the shade while listening to the All-American Boys Chorus. After resting we walked around a little more and looked at everything we had already seen. it is a small fair! James bought me a pair of Rainbow Sandals. We bought dinner around 4:30 so we could finish before the Peking Acrobats started their show at 5:20. For dinner I had Australian Battered Potatoes and James had a Turkey Leg. It was delicious. We watched the Peking Acrobats, which are amazing, and then headed home. It was a great day spending time together, hot and sweaty, but tons of fun.

Well My Friday started normal at 5:45 am… Getting ready for work. Unlike most Friday’s, this one promised to be over 24 hours. Like always we arrived at work around 7 am and went about our normal duties. At 9 am I drove a group of teenagers to Knott’s Berry Farm and then went back to work. I worked from 10 am-12:35 pm and then went to get my allergy shots and pick up some cookies for the youth game time at the church. At 4 pm, James and I left the church in the van I had driven earlier and met up with the teens leaving Knott’s. We headed to Portillo’s for dinner. When all of the teens had eaten their fill and relaxed for about an hour we loaded up and headed to Boomer’s. The teens drove the golf carts and mini-golfed until 10:30 pm and then we headed back to Bethel.
We arrived at the church at 11 pm and the fun really began. We played a game of soccer in the auditorium with fog and strobe lights… we played a twist on the previous mentioned game with pool noodles. I didn’t stay inside for the strobe light games since they give me a major migraine. Next we had a worship service. It started at 1 am with lots of songs and testimonies, and then Eric gave a short challenge about the mercy of God. We finished the service about 2:30 am and then let the kids loose on the property to find the youth leader who was hiding… this is fun because we have to be very quiet since it is early morning. We played 3 rounds and then we played a game with balloons in a completely dark auditorium.
The highlight of the night was playing Communist Church. The youth leaders were the communists and the kids were the Christians trying to get the hidden contraband… when they found one of the hidden items they had to give it a leader and the leader had to leave and not play the rest of the round. We played 6 rounds of Communist Church and the kids loved every minute of it.
The activity ended with most of the kids falling asleep while watching a movie from 5:30 am-6:45 am. Since clean-up had been done before the movie started James and I left at 6:15 am. We hit our bed at 6:45 am and I didn’t get up until 3 pm Saturday afternoon… James didn’t get up until 4 pm. We had a wonderful brunch of scrambled eggs and toast and watched a movie. so basically I was up for 25 hours and then got 8 hours of sleep.
I hope you all have a great weekend!

Some of my favorite memories are: jay singing in the shower in the gym, singing “the cheeseburger song”, sareen and the showers, “Hurting Face In The Morning” getting funny looks in Wal-Mart because of jay’s skin color, and many more

So on Friday night, I went up to LBA and played in an alumni volleyball game… It was a ton of fun. The alumni team was Zaza, Melanie, Darlene, Ariel, Katrina, and myself. We made a great team and beat the LBA girls team 3 out of the 4 games… ZaZa is still an amazing volleyball player and we all worked together to come from behind in a few of the games.
This was the first time that I had worn socks and shoes since I burned my feet the week before… My feet were starting to heal and getting ready to peel but they weren’t quite there yet. So as I was playing and the socks were rubbing on the tops of my feet the skin was trying to protect itself. To do this it formed very thing blisters on the tops of my feet… these blisters popped almost immediately after I took my socks off… So Friday night my feet started peeling and now they look really funny… They were not completely ready to peel so I have to be careful that they don’t get to irritated… So I am back to flip flops. Hopefully by the end of the week I will be able to wear different shoes comfortably.

Well… I just got back from my very first cruise. It was a ton of fun and I had a wonderful time… I went with my sister, Rebekah and my mom. I had no clue that my sister was coming and I screamed loudly when she walked into my house. She was my birthday present from my parents. We have so many memories and funny stories. We went with about 50 ladies from Lighthouse Baptist Church. The cruise went to Catalina and Ensenada… We left Monday April 19th from the Port of Long Beach and arrived back in Long Beach on April 23rd. We went to Catalina on Tuesday and Ensenada on Wednesday, had a fun day at sea on Thursday. I will write another post in the next few days about some of the stories but if you would like to see pics click here

Well, it has begun… A week away. We left on Easter Sunday after the morning service and heading up to San Francisco. We arrived amidst rain and wind but got a very warm welcome from family. We didn’t stay up too late since we were tired from the drive. We had a relaxing family day on Monday with a trip to Build-a-Bear so Melissa could make a bear. It was mine and James’ present to her. We also went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and then came back home to do some yard work and take naps. I stayed in the house and listened for Melissa to wake up since I am allergic to most thing nature. The evening was fun. We had the Allen’s and Bennicoff’s over for dinner and fellowship. Our plans for today are to go to the Oakland Zoo and just enjoy being with the family… It is really good to see all of them!

So as everyone knows Easter is this Sunday. This is one of the Sunday’s that many people, who don’t normally attend church, venture out to darken the door of a church building. It is also a time when many churches tell the story of the Crucifixion through songs and drama. At Bethel we are doing a Passion Play. We have put in so many hours of practice that I was singing the songs in my head when I went to bed last night. We are doing 2 performances, one on Friday night and one on Easter Sunday morning.

Not only has practice made life busy but we just finished our Missions Conference week. It was a great week but we were at church every night from Wednesday to Sunday. James and I also had the privilege to help paint some of the set for the play. It looks wonderful but has kept us busy.

After the Play performance on Sunday morning James and I will be heading to San Francisco for Spring break. We will get to spend time with his family and also John, Mary, and Melissa.

I took yesterday off work to go see my allergist since I had been having problems with really watery eyes. I am now on Zithromax and Prednisone, along with allergy eye drops and antibiotic eye drops. Hopefully I will be feeling better in the next few days. The Prednisone is a steroid and for those of you who don’t know these make me really hungry and I eat all day long. I have been on them once before and ate more than James, so the next week should be fun! Along with going to see the dr I also did 6 loads of laundry.
