The cute 4-year-old girl asks, “Mrs. Ashton, How do you take your clothes off?”

Now I know what you are thinking, because I paused and thought what do I tell a 4-year-old in answer to this question…but I did answer her.

Me: “Over my head…the same way you do.”

Girl: “But doesn’t the baby show?” ¬†(at this point I realized she thought the baby was under my shirt and not under my skin)

Me: “Oh no, you can’t see the baby because it is under my skin.”

The next conversation took place a few minutes later…

Girl: “Will it hurt when you go to have your baby?”

Me: “Probably a little bit…Did your mommy tell you that?”

Girl: “No, but it will hurt, because when you go to the doctor to have the baby the nurses just take the baby out.”

Now I did laugh at this because she is right that would be painful…thankfully that doesn’t happen but I wasn’t going to explain that to her!

I have kids ask everyday if they can touch my belly and is the baby moving…I love having kids be apart of my life and enjoy the moments of the baby as much as I do. The kids make me smile and make my day no matter what is going wrong. ¬†I can learn so much from them and there child-like faith. ¬†I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to work with them and to impact there world for Christ!

I answer with “not right now” she continues to touch my belly and asks “Is it a boy or a girl?”

I respond with “It is a boy” she asks “Why?” I answer “Because that is what God made it”

She gets a very determined look on her face and says “When I grow up I am going to have a baby girl and be a painter.”

I am still not sure what being a painter has to do with having a baby girl but kids say the cutest things.

Here is what you need: ¬†1 bag of pretezels (I prefer Rold Gold), 2 bags of Hersey’s Hugs (you can use different flavors), 1 bag of regular milk chocolate m&m’s

Here is what you do: you line a few baking sheets with foil and lay the pretzels out so they are all flat…you then place an unwrapped Hershey’s Hug on each one…put them in the oven at 200 for about 2 min (keep an eye on them you don’t want the Hugs to melt too much, just until the tip is bending over)…take them out of the oven and immediately push an m&m in each one…let them cool (if you can slide the foil off the baking pan it works best to let them cool off the pan)…when cooled serve and enjoy…store uneaten pretzel hugs (if any) in a plastic container.

That is just our travel plans I am not sure what the days will hold…I am going to be tired but really enjoy the vacation with family.

So to start Christmas vacation I thought I would give you a few funny questions and quotes I have gotten from school kids about my pregnancy! Hope you enjoy!
1. “Ewwww…you can hear the heartbeat? that is gross…it is inside you” a 6th grader
2. “How big is the baby?” Me-”the size of my fist” “Mrs. Ashton you are going to be big!” also a 6th grader
3. “How is the little NFL player doing?” a college student
4. “Hi Crystal” as the student rubs my belly-a 9th grader (they think it is a girl and they call every baby Crystal)
5. “Can you feel it move?” Me-”Just little flutters” “oh that is gross”-a 6th grader
6. When I told a kindergartener he put his hand to his head and made an exasperated sound…
7. “Can I see the baby?” me-”no it is in my belly” “well when is it going to come out?” a 2nd grader
8. A small child when told I have a baby in my belly proceeds to lift her shirt, point to her belly and say “I have baby, too” a 2-year-old
9. “Mrs Ashton, my dad read on facebook that you are going to have a baby?” Me-”yes” “oh, that’s cool…congratulations! When will it be here?” a 5th grader
10. My niece Melissa, while looking at the ultrasound picture on facebook-”I like it! Baby needs a diaper”

This terror I am speaking of,
Is terrible to tell,
For millions died saving lives,
And calling friends at home.

On this day, two planes crashed
Into the World Trade Towers,
Firefighters and Policemen tried
To rescue fathers and mothers.

The World Trade Towers collapsed and fell
Killing thousands inside,
The smoke and ashes from the fires
Darkened the morning sky.

The day of terror had just begun

A plane hit the Pentagon,
And people fell as well.

A group of Heroes,
Who would not yield,
To the terrorists attacks,
Crashed their plane in a field.
(Their never coming back)

As millions watched their TV screens,
Family members cried.
For thousands of people that were loved,
Had just bravely died.

We went to war
For freedoms cause
Because someone had to pay
For the pain that they had caused on this fateful day.

We may not have won this war
But we can bravely say
“If you don’t want to go to war,
Then don’t mess with the USA.”
