Home
START

“Home is where the Heart is” is a very common phrase. I like to think that Home is where my family is. But more then that I love thinking about my heavenly home.

My home is not this world and although I love my family and friends I am looking forward to that wonderful heavenly home that the Lord promises in His word. No matter how horrible my day is or how bad things are in my life I have a heavenly home to look forward to some day.

A Home where there will be no more tears, pain, suffering, sorrow, etc.

My home on earth is a little bit of that heavenly home with the emphasis we put on the things of God and not on the temporal things!

So yes my home is where my heart is but my heart is in heaven with the Lord who died to save my soul and that is the home I am looking forward to someday soon!

“This world is not my home I’m just a passin’ through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue!”

Here is my best 5 minutes on Opportunity

START

As 2013 begins I look back at 2012 and see all the missed opportunities. The times I could have smiled at someone and made their day better or lended a hand to someone or held a door open 2 seconds longer!

I realize that so many opportunities come our way and we just have to see God’s hand in them…sometimes that smile you offer was all that person needed to mend a relationship or make it through just on more hour of work.

I find these missed opportunities to be selfishness on my part…I decided not to smile or help out I choose not to speak that kind encouraging word, and my day doesn’t go right because of it.

God gives us all many wonderful opportunities to let His light shine through us…sometimes we have to stand in the way of that light so we get those opportunities and sometimes that light finds us.

I want 2013 to be a wonderful opportunity for God’s light to shine through me and to share His wonderful love with other!

Thank You

START

“God’s been good in my life, I feel blessed beyond my wildest dreams when I go to sleep each night. Though I’ve had my share of hard times, I wouldn’t change them if I could. ‘Cause through it all, God’s been good” Legacy Five “God’s Been Good”

These are the lyrics to one of my favorite song… I can’t say thank you enough for the blessings in my life.

I am teaching my one-year old son to say thank you when he is given something…and yet I forget to say thank you for the simple things in my life.

I have a wonderful amazing husband who loves me and takes care of our family!

I have a sweet precious son that charms his way into everyone’s heart.

But most of all I have a gracious and merciful heavenly Father who has carried me through many ups and downs…who has blessed our family and taken care of us.

I wouldn’t change my life and I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to say thank you to all of the people who have touched my life and heart with their encouragement and love!

My life would be empty with out family and friends…So thank you for all you have given to me!

START
Stay

As I sit here and think about all the things that STAY says to me I can’t help but focus on staying where I am at and being content and happy about it!

So here is my taking on staying and being content…

As I stay still and wait on the Lord
He guides my life each day!

I may not see His guiding hand
But I realize it is there

I don’t always listen or respond
In the way that I should

But God still loves me
And leads my way!

As long as I stay
In God’s way

He can’t help
But use me!

I may not be perfect
But saved by grace

And through that grace
I stay!

Hope you all put yourselves in God’s way and allow Him to use you! Stay there and continue to touch the lives around you!

You are the only Jesus some will ever see and you’re the only Words of life some will ever read, So let them see in you the one in whom is all they’ll ever need! Words from “The Only Jesus”

Five Minute Friday: Focus

Join us in writing for five minutes click on this link to check it out five minute friday

Here is my best on: Focus
START

I look around and see so much to do. There are boxes to unpack, dishes to wash, closets to organize and 2 little boys to keep tabs on.

I realize that my son wants to cuddle and play and I focus on him. I see Evan needing me and I focus on him.

I take time to do other things during nap time and then I realize…there is only one person who wants my full attention and He will make everything else fall in place.

I stop and put my focus back on Christ and my attitude changes, my day turns around.
I am no longer focused on the chores to get done but on the One who provides the strength to get through.

Here are my five minutes on:
Change

START
Changes come like seasons…there is always something new.
A new job, a new schedule, a new toy…a different aspect to each thing.

Change is important for progress in this world…but a lot of people don’t like change.
It is a curse, a problem, a hassle in their lives…why can’t things always stay the same.

Change is happening in our home right now…we are moving and my life looks like a bunch of boxes.
I am also not working the job I was last year.

These changes have brought about a new trust in the Lord…A trust that He will provide and is in charge of our situation.

Change isn’t always easy but it grows us in ways we don’t expect or even notice until after the change is complete.

How often do we push against change only to find out that after pulling the door open and walking through life is so much better and we are happily in the center of our Lord’s will.

Five Minute Friday: Stretch

shared this on and

Sorry I haven’t been on in a while…

Here is my best five minutes on:
Stretch
Go

Everyday I can feel the pull the tug of muscles being stretched. These last 2 weeks it was one particular muscle…my heart.

I was being stretched by my Lord and He was asking me to respond…I was being pushed to the limit of my physical ability and being made to depend on Him.

How you might ask. Well I had to put the care of my husband completely in God’s hands as I was out of town and he had to have surgery. He was put completely under and I wasn’t even here to take care of him.

What if something happened? What if the worst happened? Okay so the surgery was on his thumb and It wasn’t a long surgery but I was still going through all the “what ifs” in my mind.

As I lay on the bed in a hotel in Oregon and my husband sleeps in a bed in California I prayed and cried and pleaded with the Lord to calm my heart and to stretch my trust…To help me put my whole dependence on the Lord and trust Him with the entire outcome.

I worried and cried and fretted…but ultimately had to allow God to stretch my trust in Him.

Beyond

START

Look beyond the outside, look to what is important.
Sometimes we can’t see the heart of the matter because we are stuck on the details.

Look beyond the details, look at the center issue
Be willing to set yourself aside and care for someone else.

Look beyond the mess, look into the heart.
Understand the problem and don’t let excuse get in the way.

As we go through life we have so many things we can focus on, look to what is important and allow God to use you to fix the issue.

I sometimes wonder how many problems could be fixed if I allowed God to use me beyond my limits, allowed Him to stretch me and teach me more about myself.

As you go through life look beyond yourself to the cross of Christ!

Here is my best on:
Story

START

I sit with my Bible open and a book next to me…I read His story!

I sit with my child on my knee and open his board book…I read him a story!

I look around at the life I am living and wonder what my story looks like…

Is it interesting, boring, a testimony?

Will those around me see Christ’s story in my life?

When I reach the end of the day my living room tells the story of what happened in my house that day…

And though my house is usually messy “My messy living room tells the tale that a certain little boy had fun that day.”

I can only hope and pray that my life’s story honors and glorifies the Lord and that it helps teach my son about Him.

Here are my thoughts on:
Dance

START
It is those tiny feet and chubby legs moving across the room…We are doing the learning to walk dance.

He stumbles and falls and gets up again and it starts all over…those slow agonizing first steps.

How many ties do we go through this with our Lord? The small steps, the falls, the lifting our hands to be lifted up to our feet.

How many often do I have to learn to do the dance…the one where I put my complete trust in the One who holds tomorrow?

How often do I dance into His loving arms and let him cover me with his care?

I want to trust, to dance into my Savior’s presence and let His love cover me!
