Five Minute Friday: Trust

Around here we write for five minutes flat on Fridays.

We write because we want to, not because we have to. We write for fun, for joy, for discovery.

On Fridays we just write without worrying if it’s just right or not. Won’t you join us? (<—Tweet this!)

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Please visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them.

Trust

GO

As he stares up at me with his big blue eyes and looks for my approval…I can’t help but smile. As he holds on to my hand and tries to stand I can’t help but think about how trusting he is…My son who is 8 months old has so much trust.

As he goes through each day he trusts me to take car of him, to comfort him, to feed him, and to be his guide. He doesn’t think twice about grabbing for a toy that is too far away and as he plops on his bottom I think about how quickly he has grown.

I want him to learn to trust me, as his mom, but also to trust the Lord. The only One who can give him the complete care and grace that he deserves. I want to be the one to direct his trust to Christ…I want to trust the Lord enough so my son knows who his parents depend on.

As I lay him in his bed he doesn’t question if I will be there when he wakes up…he looks up with those wonderful blue eyes that I love and they say, “Mommy, I trust you!” even though he isn’t old enough to say them himself.

Oh my. I love your post. It is so true…and amazing…the trust they have in us. It is so pure and untainted. The funny coincidence, is that my post has a video of my 12 month old taking some of her first steps. :-) And she has been hanging on so much to me. I am so glad that she finally has the confidence to walk on her own. They grow up much too fast though!
