Well it is Monday, Memorial Day!  This has been a long but very fun weekend.  James, Ruth, and I left Thursday at 3:30 to head up to San Francisco for the Family Gathering in honor of Grandma Margie.  We got to Mom and Dad’s house around 11:30 pm and headed to bed.  We were all tired from the drive, we had hit traffic in LA.

On Friday morning we were up around 7:00 am and on the road by 9:00 am.  We were heading up to Oroville where the Family Gathering was going to be.  We took our time on the trip and got in just before 1:00 pm.  We then started getting things ready for Saturday.  We went to the store, printed pictures, cleaned the house, organized food, took a walk, and played with Melissa.  We had a great time and were all ready for the next day.

On Saturday morning family started to arrive at 11:00 am.  We had a great turnout, about 75 people showed up to honor Grandma Margie.  It was great to meet family members that I hadn’t gotten to before.  Being with Melissa and the rest to the family made the whole day perfect.  We left there around 4:00 pm and enjoyed a quiet evening at home.

Of course on Sunday we had church and the a Memorial Day church picnic.  It was freezing and no one had the proper clothing so we went to Target and found absolutely nothing to help keep us warm.  We headed to the Giant’s Dugout… a store that sells only Giants gear.  We found sweatshirts, beanies, and jackets to keep us warm.  Then we headed to the park.  It was a lot of fun even if it was really cold.  We got home around 4:00 pm and the siblings started to go through old pictures with their parents…Melissa and I both took a nap.  James fixed dinner and dessert.  We enjoyed spending time together as a family.

Today we are going through more pictures and having Bar-B-Qued porkloin for lunch.  We are also going to make ice cream.  James, Ruth, and I plan to leave around 2:00 pm and head back to LA.  I have really enjoyed being with the family.

Melissa has entertained us all… she will sign words or say them.  She now signs and says Auntie and Uncle.  She also says Grandma and Grandpa.  She is a charmer and so cute.  I love her and am really going to miss her.  I am glad that we got a lot of pictures of her.  I also got video footage of her playing with all of her aunties and uncles.

It has been a great trip. Pictures will be up soon.  I will let you know.

This is from the Youth Light for February 18, 2001.

“Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”

“I stutter when I get around pretty girls… So, what’s your n-n-n-n-n-name?”

“Who’s the thief? It looks like someone stole a piece of heaven and tried to hide it in your eyes.”

“Heaven must be worried right now… because I see they’re missing an angel.”

“I didn’t know angels could fly so low.”

“Do you have a map? I just keep getting lost in your eyes.”

“I’m sorry, were you talking to me… (”No”) Would you please start?”

“Do you believe in love at first sight? (”No”) Okay, I’ll walk by again.”

“If I could rearrange the alphabet, I’d put U and I together.”

“Is there an airport close? Oh, that’s just my heart taking off.”

“Excuse me, do you have any raisins? (”No”) How about a date?”

“I lost my number can I have yours?”

“Have we met before? (”No”) Oh, it must have been in my dreams.”

“Was your dad a terrorist? ‘Cause you’re the bomb!”

Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend! :)

Well, my weekend started out busy.  I got off work at 12:35 on Friday and the busyness began.  I had a few errands to run so I started with those.  I went to the bank and withdrew some quarters so I could do laundry, then I headed to the mall to pick out a present for Rebekah’s Bridal Shower, I was home for about 30 min and then I headed to the school to pick up James.  From the school we headed over to the gym at Mile Square Park for the Sport’s Banquet.  We got there at 4:00 and helped organize the food and set the tables.  For dinner we had spaghetti, bread, salad, and brownies.  It was all provided by the students families and it was delicious.  During dinner all of the coaches presented awards to their teams.

As the Jr High Volleyball coach I presented 2 awards.  Most Outstanding went to Elena Ramirez, and Most Improved went to Kelly Ngo.  After dinner there was a staff vs Jr high guys and HS girls basketball game.  The staff won.  :)  Then there was an alumni vs the HS guys basketball game and the alumni won.  It was a great evening.  James and I got home around 10:30 and James was really worn out so he took a shower and went straight to bed.  I will be posting pics soon.

We were up bright and early on Saturday morning for a yearbook training session.  We are getting ready for next years yearbook and we had a great time with the returning yearbook staff.  I learned a great deal and am looking forward to helping out with yearbook this upcoming year.

I left James at the yearbook session with Tim Wright and I headed to Carrie Roman’s house for Rebekah’s Bridal Shower at 1:00.  I had a great time with the girls!  We played some games and enjoyed the fellowship.  We had fun watching her turn red while opening presents.  I will not be posting pics from the present part of the afternoon but i will have some from the lunch part. :)  I got home around 4:00 and James and I hung out at home for the rest of the afternoon.  I did 4 loads of laundry during this time so James and I would have clothes to pack for our trip up north.  James played Wii and did some design stuff on the computer.

Please be in prayer for James, Ruth, and I as we head up to San Francisco this Thursday.  We will be attending a family gathering in honor of grandma and spending time with the family.  We will be returning Monday evening.

James got a phone call from his parents this morning that his grandmother had passed away in her sleep last night.  This was unexpected because on Saturday we were told that she was doing okay.  Hospice had only been visiting twice a week and the Ashton’s were visiting every other week.  Please be in prayer for the family.  We had plans to visit in June. As of right now we are not sure when we will be leaving but we will be heading up to be with the family this weekend.  We are all doing okay but it is going to be a hard week.

This last week I have been challenged in my walk with the Lord.  Last Wednesday in youth group I had the opportunity to be an encouragement to a high school girl.  Through out the week we have texted and talked and I have been encouraged while trying to encourage her.  She is going through a difficult time and I have been praying for her and encouraging her to do what is right.  We have developed a great friendship and I am looking forward to growing in our relationship.

One of the really neat things about this is that I had just been praying for the Lord to lead me to a high schooler who needed encouragement.  He put me in the right place at the right time.  I am so thankful for the ministry that the Lord has lead me too here at Bethel.  Along with this I also sang for the first time since joining Bethel.  It was great to be back doing special music.  I love praising the Lord. :)
