This is the Mind Boggler and Funny from the Youth Light February 11, 2001

Mind Boggler:

What’s greater than God, more evil than the devil, the rich don’t have it, but the poor do, and if you eat it, you will die?

Funny: Fun Things To Do In An Elevator…

1. Pass out name tags to everyone. Wear yours upside down.

2. Make explosion noises whenever someone presses a button.

3. Carry a cooler that has “Human Head” printed on the side.

4. Say in a deep demonic voice, “I must find a new host body.

5. Do step aerobics. Encourage others to join you.

6. Whistle “It’s a Small World” constantly.

7. Burp then say, “Mmmmmm…Tasty.”

8. Wear a sock puppet and talk to other people “through” the puppet.

9. Stare at another passenger for 10 seconds then say, “You’re one of them!”  Move to a far corner.

10. Meow occasionally.

11. When arriving at your floor, grunt and strain to yank the doors open, then act embarrassed when they open by themselves.

12. Blow your nose. Look into your hanky and scream, “Yes! Another winner!”

13. Blow spit bubbles and giggle every time one blows up.

14. Say “ding” at each floor.

15. Two words: AIR BISCUIT!

Sorry if you don’t get the last one.  It was a youth group joke! :)

Hope you all have a great week.

So the activity on Saturday was a huge success.  Our secret ingredient was cocoa powder.  We had to use it in 3 courses: an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert.  We left the church at 12:15 and headed to the store.  We had a couple cookbooks and chose recipes on the way so we would purchase all the ingredients we needed.  For our appetizer we decided to do biscuits, of course they were chocolate biscuits because of adding the cocoa powder.  They were pretty nasty tasting after they were cooked, they tasted fine before they were put in the oven.

For our main dish we made Stuffed Spinach Shells.  We used ricotta cheese, cream cheese, spinach, and of course cocoa.  :)  You couldn’t really taste the cocoa.  They turned out okay.  I wouldn’t make them again, at least not with cocoa.

For dessert we made a chocolate pizza.  It had a sugar cookie crust, cream cheese & cocoa for the frosting, and peanut butter chips and chocolate chips on top.  We also drizzled chocolate sauce over the top.  It was the best hing we made.

One of the other teams made things like: Chocolate croissants, chocolate breaded chicken, chocolate mousse crepes, rice with chicken boullian, cocoa, and cinnamon in it.

The third team made: Chocolate covered strawberries, Chocolate tri-tip, Layered chocolate mousse.

I was tired of chocolate at the end of the end of the night.  Sounds funny but it is true.

Our team came in 2nd.  We were happy with that.

Well, Spring Break ended and we came back to school on Monday.  My week started off busy and isn’t going to get any less busy.  Monday was 95 degrees and I was on playground so needless to say I was hot.  I ended up staying all day at work because they needed a sub for a k-5 nap room.  Also on Monday I was asked to sub in k-4 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday I subbed from 10:30-12:00 after that I did my normal k-5 nap room from 12:05-12:35 and then I headed into Chino Hills to get my allergy shots.  It was warm on Tuesday also, 85 degrees.  The heat had me feeling a little sick so I enjoyed the a/c all evening.  Tuesday night instead of cooking dinner we headed to the mall to eat at Baja Fresh.  I had gotten a gift card for my birthday.

Today I woke up to an overcast sky.  I was heading into sub from 8:00-12:00 in k-4.  It has been a good day so far.  I just laid the kids down for nap time.  It is nice to have peace and quiet for a little bit.  At 12:05 I am going in to do my normal k-5 nap room and then I am done for the day.  We have church tonight so i will only have a few hours at home.

Tomorrow so far is a normal day with teacher breaks from 9:00-10:20 and playground duty from 11:00-12:05 and then the normal k-5 nap room from 12:05-12:35.  After that I am free for the rest of the day.

Friday is a totally different story.  I have my normal work hours (same as Thursday) then I am subbing in a k-4 class from 2:00-2:30 and then the school has Spring Festival starting at 3:00-8:00.  On top of that, we have a ladies meeting at 7:00.  I will be at the school all day and it will be a busy one.  :)  I don’t mind busy days or weeks, it is nice to be able to serve the Lord, impact the lives of children and add a little money to my paycheck.

On Monday, James and I had a blessing.  James’ phone died, like not just messed up, but wouldn’t even turn on at times.  So on Monday we went to purchase a new phone for him.  I had been teasing him about getting the new one and he taking my old one. :)  Well, we went to Ryan Thomas’ AT&T store and James picked out a Samsung Propel.

As Ryan is finalizing the transaction he looks at James and says, “these phones are buy one get one free right now.”  So I got a new phone since we were already paying for James’  Isn’t the Lord good?  I am really liking the new one.  It has a full keyboard so I am having to get use to that, but I don’t mind. :)

On Saturday, we have to get my allergy shots in the morning, a youth activity (Iron Chef) in the afternoon, and a young marrieds activity in the evening.  So our day is full.  Maybe I will get to breathe on Sunday. :)

Hope you are all having a good week!

So last night we had a beach blast for the youth group.  It was so windy that the sand was pelting everyone and you nobody escaped from getting it in their eyes and mouth.  Because it was windy before we even headed to the beach we decided to forgo the hotdogs and we stopped at a taco bell on the way.  We did have s’mores.  Everyone huddled together around the fire and under blankets to keep warm.   I had a hard time taking pics of the sunset because I couldn’t hold the camera still.  A few times I almost fell backwards trying to brace myself against the wind.

We were only at the beach for about an hour and right before we left Matt gave a 5 min devotion about perseverance.  He talked about how everyone found a way to keep warm and have a good time inspite of the wind, that no one just gave up and went to the vans.  He talked about how sometimes we want to quit and we have people around us who encourage us on in our Christian walk.  He also talked about how different people play different roles in your life.  It was short but very encouraging.   All in all it ended up being a great activity.  everyone walked away with sand in their mouths, shoes, purses, phones, etc… but we also all walked away with a valuable lesson.

We did have an enjoyable time. I am just glad we didn’t try to eat there.   My hotdog would have been full of sand. :) For more pics see the pictures page

Great Ways To Bug Your Friends At School (Only during Breaks, of course)

Youth Light on January 14, 2001

-Stare at them for 5 minutes straight every hour. Don’t say anything, just stare.

-Walk around real stiff with a big smile the whole day. Tell everyone you’ve turned into gumby.

-Bring Transformers to school and play with them all day. When your friends tell you to quit, tell them, “they’re more than meets the eye.”

-Constantly walk into walls. Blame your friends.

-When your friend sneezes or coughs, run and hide in the bathroom for a few minutes. Ask it it’s safe to come out and insist they wash their hands.

-Echo every last word your friends say. (Like, “How are you doing today?”  ”Today…today…today…”)

-Call your friends “sweetie-pie” or “baby cakes” all day.

-Smile all the time.

-Draw a tiny black dot on your arm. Make it bigger every day. Look at it and say “It’s spreading!”

-Skip wherever you go. Fall now and then.

-Draw a face on a potato and bring it to school. Give it a name and talk to it all day.

-Shave one eye brow

-Talk with a british accent all day.  Act confused when they ask about it.

Nothing else really exciting in this youth light.

So for my birthday my mom came down and we went to lunch and then shopping.  We went to Olive Garden and had Soup, salad, and breadsticks.  Then we walked the mall for a little bit.  I got a gift card to Kohl’s from the Ashton’s and my mom told me she would spend some money on me also.  So to Kohl’s we went!

I got 5 shirts, 2 pairs of pants (black & khaki), and 2 skirts.  I also got a shirt from Aeropostale!  Jireh made me oragami flowers and Tim got me an iPod arm band!

Well I am 23 today! I am very thankful for the 23 years the Lord has aloud me to live on this earth! I am looking forward to all the gifts and cards all my readers will be sending me. jk :)

I figured it would be fun to put up a pic from my senior year in High school and a pic of what I look like today!  By the way, the little girl is my niece, not my daughter!  :)

In the last few days I have had many reminders of childhood.  I am sitting in a k-5 nap room right now and they are listening to a cd  that has songs we sang in Sunday Night Jr. Church with Jay.  Also in Sunday morning Jr. Church with Darren House and Sam Low!  Like “Who Did Swallow Jonah?”  Except we use to say “Darren did, Darren did, Darren did swallow Jonah down.”  Hearing these songs brings so many other memories also.

Like Jay’s Puke Message: Ruby Red Ranger, Silky Smooth Symphony, Funky, Funk, Monkey Chunk, and riding the bus up the hill and through the grass field for Jr. Church.  I think my favorite Sunday of all times was Law Enforcement Appreciation Day!  I also loved the potlucks during the anniversary month and how we would have our afternoon service in the Park.

Tearing down all the chairs in the auditorium for Sunday Night Volleyball, Mrs. Ingram and Mrs. Harrigan doing Thursday night visitation nursery.  Man, we had some great times in our church.  I remember always visiting Mrs. Ingram’s office to get a piece of candy.

I also remember getting in trouble for inviting friends over to my house on campus and their parents not being able to find them, or they would get left and we would have to call their parents to come back and get them.  I think I got away with more impromptu sleepovers or Sunday afternoon guests because of this.  If I think back we probably did this on purpose with certain friends because we knew their parents would let them spend the night.

Well enough memories for one day!  More will be coming soon though.  :)

Enjoy!

So I have had a crazy last few days and I a now ready for my relaxing Saturday!  On Thursday evening, we had Ruth, Hannah, and Tim over.  It was fun and enjoyable, but we didn’t go to bed until around 11:15.  On Friday, I got up and went in to school early.  I went to First Baptist in Long Beach for Elementary GSACS competition and we were there until around 5:00.  Then I came home and James and I went out to California Pizza Kitchen for an early birthday dinner for me…since we won’t have time this next week.

Both of us were so tired from the last few days that we went to bed around 9:45.  We slept in and enjoyed a very relaxing morning at home.  Then we headed to Chino Hills to get my allergy shots and then to Wal-Mart to do a little shopping.  We got home in time for lunch and have just been relaxing here.

Right now I am transferring some cassette tapes to my computer so I can put them on cds for Rebekah and so I don;t have to worry about cassette tapes any more.  Saying cassette tapes is almost as bad as hearing your parents talk about 8-tracks!  :)  I have about 10 tapes that I am going to do.  I am excited to finally be able to put them in my music libraby.  One of them is the Lighthouse Youth Group tape.  I love those songs.  :)  Another one I am going to be doing is a Gold City tape.  I use to play it all the time n my car and it was getting a little worn out so the last time I will play it will be to copy it.  I love technology.

Well hope you are all having a great day!
