Wow, I get chills from earthquakes!

July 29th, 2008 by Renae

Okay, so I am sitting calmly on the couch in my downstairs apartment when all of the sudden things start shaking and falling off of the shelves.  Yes, we had an earthquake. If you have spent anytime in California you know that these are common but not happening even every month.  We had a 5.8 earthquake and it was close. actually about 30 minutes from my house.  It was felt all the way from San Diego to Las Vegas.  This is the first time I have ever had this experience on a bottom floor of a building.  It is way different.  I just talked to James and he is doing fine with the daycare kids so that is good.  I am going to try to get a hold of my parents.  The initial earthquake was followed by three 3.8 aftershock, two directly after the shock and one about 5 minutes later!  We had a crack in our patio that is a little bigger now and will probably have to be fixed as it supports the patio above ours.  Please let me know about your earthquake experiences from today.

It was scary..the epicenter was right here in Chino Hills. My poor dog was still scared minutes after the earthquake.. =)

I’m so glad you are both ok! Any new word on your parents? My best friend Jenn was at work in Long Beach and she said ceiling tiles were falling down and everything. Thank God everyone is ok!!!

It was insane!!! We was about 15 minutes away from the epicenter, and in a parking lot with Lincoln. I’ve never seen building-length windows move like that, or the pavement roll! How crazy!

I was upstairs at work and I thought a ‘big’ person had fallen down the stairs. =) Then my coworkers grabbed me and started running outside lol. Then we couldnt even use the phones. Fun stuff :)

i was painting lockers upstairs and fred had just gone downstairs so i thought it was him deciding to run down the stairs, cause you know bethel buildings move all the time earthquake or not.
and this earthquake wasn’t so bad, i feel it like this every time i do laundry, beauty of the mobile home.

well i heard it coming, a rumble off in the distance and seconds later shaking “it’s just an earthquake” i told the 25 daycare kids, “just stay still.” (we were outside) then some of the administration came and asked us to go stand out in the playground. the kids were fine. the admin was a little more scared. one of them said to me “that was a scary one” i replied “it wasn’t bad.” you see my first memory growing up was the ‘89 loma preata earthquake in san francisco that one caused a bridge to collapse, now that’s scary. i was 3.
